We hope this overview helps you feel more at ease about what to expect when you visit us. We have been praying for our neighbors and would love to meet you!

When you arrive at the Community Center, you’ll find ample parking in the front parking lot when entering from East Avenue. If there is no parking available in the front lot, the community center has a large overflow parking lot on Loyola Way.
When you enter the Community Center building, you will see a front desk receptionist who can direct you to the Larkspur room for the worship service.

We aren’t formal, so you can leave your suit at home if you want, or feel free to wear it if that is what makes you more comfortable. Probably most of the men will be wearing jeans and a collar, but shorts and a T-shirt aren’t uncommon either. For the ladies, anything from dresses to jeans and casual tops is typical. We won’t be judging you based on your outfit; we will just be happy to meet you and hear about what Christ is doing in your life.

Our services are typically 80-90 minutes long and include congregational singing, prayer, Scripture reading, communion, and a sermon.

Our worship service usually begins with singing. We choose to sing songs that focus on who God is and what He has done in Christ. We sing songs that are designed to help us remember and respond to the truth of God’s word. While we enjoy traditional hymns, we also sing many modern songs by groups like CityAlight, the Gettys, Sovereign Grace, Shane and Shane, Matt Boswell, and others. The lyrics are projected on a screen so that everyone can see and worship Christ together in song!

Our sermons are expository in nature, meaning that the purpose of the sermon is to explain and drive home God’s point in a particular passage. We preach systematically, or sequentially, through whole books of the Bible. Each week, our pastor carefully unpacks a passage of Scripture, verse-by-verse, ensuring that the central message of the passage is the central message of the sermon, and that we are encouraged and challenged to live out the intended effect of the passage. Sermons typically last around 40-50 minutes.

On Sunday mornings, we have three children’s classes that meet during the worship service: Nursery (0 - <3 years), Preschool (3 - 4 years), and Elementary (K - 5th Grade). Childcare is available in the nursery throughout the whole service (beginning at 9:30am). Preschool and Elementary children should stay in the worship service with their parents until they are dismissed before the sermon.
