Our Core Values

Private Devotion:

When Jesus spoke with the woman at the well, He told her that “the hour is coming, and is now here, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father is seeking such people to worship him” (John 4:23). God isn’t just looking for people to go to church, or to serve at church, or even to be kind, moral people. God seeks worshipers who honor Him, not just publicly on Sundays but in their hearts and daily lives.

We are committed to be a church of people who personally worship God in the privacy of our hearts and our homes. Our corporate commitment reflects this: “As those who have been crucified with Christ, we will strive to lives of personal holiness, godliness and sincerity, worshiping God in our hearts and thoughts, rejoicing in the gospel, and growing in our knowledge, love, awe, and fear of God through the regular practice of spiritual disciplines.”

Sacrificial Evangelism:

We are a church that is committed to sharing the real, true gospel of Jesus Christ because there is no other plan for the salvation of the lost. As Romans 10:14 says, “How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching?” The Church has been commissioned to steward and proclaim the only way of eternal salvation for every human being on the face of the globe. We must share the gospel, for the good of man and the glory of God. There is no plan B.

Sharing Christ is not always easy, as Paul tells Timothy: “Remember Jesus Christ, risen from the dead, the offspring of David, as preached in my gospel, for which I am suffering, bound with chains as a criminal. But the word of God is not bound! Therefore I endure everything for the sake of the elect, that they also may obtain the salvation that is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory” (2 Tim 2:8-10). Paul was willing to suffer in order to bring the gospel to people so that they might be saved. We must be willing to do the same, because oftentimes that is what will be required.

Our corporate commitment says, “We will seek the good of our friends, family, neighbors and co-workers by sacrificially evangelizing them, enduring suffering when necessary as good soldiers of Christ.”

Familial Affection:

We are a church that is committed to treating other believers like family—because we are! Our union with Christ has objectively united us with every true believer globally, regardless of language, culture, ethnicity, or doctrinal distinctives. We are committed to treating other Christians in a way that reflects this objective bond in Christ, building relationships that reflect the worth of Christ and the power of the gospel to unite all kinds of people in Him.

Our corporate commitment says, “We will not neglect to gather together, but rather we will love one another because of Christ and will strive to share our lives with one another in a way that reflects our commonality in the gospel. We will care for one another in tangible and sacrificial ways that are worthy of our real bond in Christ.”

Multiplying Ministry:

In Ephesians 4, Paul says that Christ has given the leaders to the Church in order to “equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ” (Eph 4:12). This means that ministry is the responsibility of the Church, not just its leaders. The Great Commission has been given to the whole Church, and it is the job of every believer to work together to build up the Body by speaking the truth in love. The Body grows the way it is supposed to when we are all ministering to one another and sharing the gospel with the lost.

We are committed to be a church where the saints do the work of ministry, with leaders who are equipping people for more ministry. We pray that the saints’ work of ministry will lead to new believers, new small groups, and eventually new local churches. Our corporate commitment says, “We will faithfully speak the truth to one another in love, confronting sin and receiving confrontation with humility, grace and a desire for growth and restoration…. We will strive together for the growth, sanctification and unity of the Body, discovering and stewarding our spiritual gifts, skills and opportunities.”
